How to Search for Firefox Add-Ons

Some of these add-ons also have the option to disable links. Here are the steps to search for add-ons that you can use for blocking sites.

  1. Launch Firefox browser.
  2. Click the Tools menu.
  3. Click Add-ons. Another way to open the Add-ons window is by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+A at the same time.
  4. Check on the featured and recommended add-ons and see if you have the program that you need. You may also type the name of the add-on the search field, which is located on the upper right side of the page.
  5. Some of the most popular programs that are used for blocking websites are BlockSite, ProCon Latte and FoxFilter.
  6. Type any of these names on the search field and click on the search icon or hit Enter on your keyboard.
  7. Click the program on the search result.
  8. Click Add to Firefox to incorporate it on your browser.
  9. Edit your preferences to block sites that you want to disable.


This is one of the widely used add-ons for blocking pages and links on Firefox. Once blocked, you still have the chance to unblock them anytime you want. Here are the steps on how to block sites after adding BlockSite to Firefox.

  1. Launch Firefox browser.
  2. Click the Tools menu.
  3. Click Add-ons.
  4. Find BlockSite from your list of Add-ons.
  5. Click the options button for BlockSite.
  6. Check on the boxes next to Enable BlockSite, Enable Link Removal and Enable Warning Messages.
  7. Click on the Blacklist button.
  8. Click the Add button and enter the site that you wish to block.
  9. Repeat the step to add all the sites you would like to block.

10. Click the OK button once done.

ProCon Latte

Another add-on that you can use for blocking sites is ProCon Latte. If you chose to add this on Firefox, you can block sites by following the steps below.

  1. Access ProCon Latte from your list of add-ons.
  2. Click the Profanity Filter option.
  3. Enter words to be included on the block list. All websites containing these words will be blocked.
  4. Click the OK button once done.


FoxFilter is another add-on that you can use to control the sites and content that users can access when browsing on the Internet using Firefox.

  1. Access FoxFilter from your list of add-ons.
  2. Click on the Blocked option from the settings window.
  3. Enter the site or keywords that you wish to block
  4. Click on the Save button to save your preferences.
